Meet the designer
Lucia Matlou is the founder and fashion designer behind House of Dominique, a South African luxury fashion brand established in 2016. Raised in Namakgale, Limpopo, she discovered her passion early, sketching designs in school books and dreaming of a future in fashion.
She studied Dressmaking and Basic Design at Credo College, Clothing Production at Pretoria College (now Tshwane North TVET College), and Financial Management at Mopani TVET College. Her experience includes roles at Leboo’s in Pretoria and Rubicon Clothing in Sandton, where she refined her craft.
Inspired by her late father, Dominic, and her faith in God, she named the brand House of Dominique, meaning “of the Lord” or “belonging to the Lord.” Through her work, Lucia celebrates women’s dignity, individuality and confidence with timeless elegance, couture details and a commitment to South African craftsmanship.
